Case Sensitivity:

Searches are not generally case-sensitive (that is, it doesn't matter if you use upper- or lower-case letters). However, if you do include an upper-case letter, the search will be case-sensitive for that letter. For example:

will find (among other things) boole, Boole and BOOLE.

will find only Boole.

Wildcards:

The wildcard * can be used to find a maximum of four characters, and can only be used where you have at least three other characters in the search term. For example:

would return boole, book etc.

would be ignored.

Phrases and Quotes:

Use quotation marks when you're searching for a phrase, or words that should be next to each other. For example:

returns only those pages that include the exact term boolean algebra.

will return a list of pages in which both boolean and algebra are mentioned - in any order, in any part of the page.

Boolean Searches:

Use the plus ( + ) sign to indicate those words that must be included in the page, and the minus ( - ) sign for those words that must be excluded from the page. For example:

will return pages that include algebra, but not necessarily boolean.

will return only pages that include both boolean and algebra.

returns only those pages that include boolean, but that do not include algebra.
